This delicious dessert looks really impressive yet is so simple to make! You can use two tins of pears or one large one-I got mine in Lidl!
Serves 6 Approx 38p per person
Prep time 15 minutes Cooking time 20 minutes
Ingredients
1 sheet ready rolled puff pastry
1 large tin pear halves (or 2 regular tins)
2 tbsp granulated sugar
1 tsp ground ginger
1 egg, beaten
Pre-heat the oven to 170Fan/190C/Gas5
Line a flat baking sheet with baking paper & lay the pastry out on it.
Using a sharp knife score a line about 2cm in from the edge of the pastry (take care not to cut all the way through!) Prick inside of the border with a fork.
Drain the pears & place them on some kitchen paper & pat them dry with more kitchen paper. Slice the pears thinly.
Put the sugar & ginger into a bowl & mix together.
Sprinkle 1/3 of the sugar & ginger on to the pastry keeping it inside the border.
Arrange the pear slices on top as neatly as you can, they will be different sizes but don't worry as long as they are in an even layer!
Sprinkle the remaining sugar evenly on top of the pears.
Brush the edges of the pastry with beaten egg & bake for 20 minutes. The pears & pastry should a nice golden colour.
Serve warm with cream or ice cream.
